Titanium

Titanium is a transition metal often used in the aerospace, medical, and military industries. It is as strong as steel, but 40% lighter.

Titanium is ductile and has a high melting point, making it ideal for extreme heat applications.

Titanium Grades and Alloys

Titanium Grade 1

Commercially Pure TitaniumExcellent corrosion resistance, formability, and high impact toughness. Widely used in chemical processing, automotive parts, and marine applications.

Titanium Grade 2

Commercially Pure TitaniumWidely available. Shares qualities with Grade 1, but is slightly stronger. Its weldability and strength make it great for medical and architectural applications.

Titanium Grade 3

Commercially Pure TitaniumStronger than Grades 1 and 2 with similar ductility and slightly less formability. Common applications include aerospace structures, chemical processing and medical equipment.

Titanium Grade 4

Commercially Pure TitaniumStrongest of the four commercially pure titanium grades. Has excellent corrosion resistance, and good formability and weldability. Applications include airframe components and surgical hardware.

Titanium Grade 5

Alloy Ti6Al4V / Ti-6AL-4V / Ti 6-4The most commonly used titanium alloy. Strong with better high temperature resistance than Grade 2. Often used in aerospace, medical, marine, and chemical processing applications.

Titanium Grade 6

Alloy Ti-3AL-2.5VHigher tensile strength than Grade 2, and more weldable and corrosion-resistant than Grade 5. Predominantly used in industrial and aerospace applications.
